Fresno may soon be exporting its inmates. Supervisor Henry Perea pitched the plan to the county board Tuesday afternoon.

It's a move some supervisors hope will end the early release of inmates. Perea pitched what is in conjunction with two state laws.

It would set up contracts with other counties to house Fresno's inmates. Supervisors agreed 4-1 to explore the option. The issue will come back to the board in January.
