Selma Officer Involved Shooting Injures One

Selma police say one of their officers shot a suspect who led police on a chase in a stolen car and fired a weapon at an officer Thursday night.

It happened in the backyard of a home on the 2200 block of Valley View St. around 6:30 p.m.

The suspect was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries.

Investigators say the man is a Selma resident, in his 30's, with a criminal record, who was known to Selma police.

A passenger in the car the suspect was driving was taken into custody.

The officer involved was not hurt.
