Lottery tickets can be bad luck for convenience stores. Retailers say more people are trying to steal Scratcher tickets.

They say a bad economy, the holiday season, and the increasing value of tickets is driving the crime. Scratcher tickets can now cost up to ten dollars apiece.

They are all traceable, but often times thieves cash the stolen tickets in before they are reported missing. Lottery tickets are often stolen from stores that are closed.

Madera deputies are looking for two men that committed the same crime. Fresno police are also investigating three similar incidents; two of which happened at the same location.
