Japanese Art in a Hanford Orchard

The valley's eastside, just outside of Hanford contains fertile ag-land, a bounty of crops and something unexpected among the Pistachio and Almond trees.
It attracts visitors and scholars world-wide for a glimpse of its magnificent treasury.
It is the Clark Center for Japanese Art and Culture. It was founded by Bill and Libby Clark of Hanford. It's one of only two museums in the U.S. solely devoted to Japanese art.
The growing collection includes hundreds of museum quality paintings, textiles and ceramics.
It's current exhibition highlights the work of 19th century artist Sekka Kamisaka whose textile designs were published into books.
Museum curator Dr. Andreas Marks gave us the inside tour whole Bob Hilvers the curator of bonsai gave us the outside tour.
It's an homage to a foreign culture in the middle of a Hanford Orchard. Definitely worth a visit.
