A Watch is issued when conditions favor the occurrence of a blizzard, heavy snow, freezing rain, and/or significant sleet. Minimize travel and outdoor activity, and tune to KSEE 24 for updates.

An Advisory is issued when winter weather could make travel and outdoor activity dangerous. Specifically:
Snow: Accumulations of 3 to 5 inches, or an early season snow of 2+ inches
Blowing/Drifting Snow: Visibility intermittently 1/4 mile or less, winds 25-35 mph.
Freezing Rain: Ice accumulations less than 1/4 inch that will cause problems driving and walking.
Sleet: Accumulations of less than 1/2 inch.
Winter Weather: Events with more than one of the above hazards.
Wind Chill: Wind chill factors between -30°F and -50°F (see chart)

A Warning is issued for more serious winter conditions, such as:
Blizzard: Visibility below 1/4 mile, significant falling or drifting snow, wind speeds 35+ mph, expected for 3+ hours.
Heavy Snow: Accumulations of 6+ inches in 12 hours, or 8+ inches in 24 hours.
Ice Storm: Significant and damaging accumulation of ice, 1/4 inch thick or more.
Sleet: Accumulations of at 1/2 inch or more.
Winter Storm: Events with more than one of the above hazards.
Wind Chill: Wind chill factors of -50°F or lower (see chart)

When these conditions exist, minimze outdoor activities and travel to that which is absolutely necessary. If you are in your car drive cautiously to the nearest sturdy shelter and stay there until conditions improve. Use caution on roadways and paths that may have hard-to-see ice.
