Fresno Unified School, Hoover High, is leaving their students left without knowing if they are passing class or not. I am a senior at Hoover highschool getting ready to apply for college but I can't even check up on my grades to make sure I am on the right track. This past summer Fresno Unified decided to take away our "powerschool" which was our online grades, attendence, etc; and they have started up a new program called "atlas". The first semester of this school year is coming to an end and atlas is yet to work. There are two required classes you need to pass to graduate your senior year and many students are unsure if they are even passing, without knowing their grades the school year can come to an end and they may be stuck in a very sticky situation. Every month FUSD gives us a date that atlas should be up and running but whenever that date comes it is postponed to a different date. This Thanksgiving break I tried to submit my college application to Fresno State but was unable to do so because I needed previous grades from years before that I should have been able to get online but without atlas running I was unable to do so. Teachers at Hoover are very unhappy about this situation as well, everything is a mess. So the question is, "Why did they take powerschool down for a new program that can't even get up and running within the first semester of the school year?" Time is passing, and students are unsure if they are passing as well. I am hoping this gets up in the news that way FUSD can be pushed to make a change this all and get atlas up and runing so students and teachers can stop stressing and be able to know and insert grades again. -Marisela Blanco
