WHAT IS H.O.P. AND WHO IS HOPPING?
Welcome to the new kids’ program associated with Helping One Woman, called H.O.P. (Helping Other People)! It’s with excitement and joy that we have launched this much needed program for children.
H.O.P. was started when a 10 year old girl named Gracie asked her mother, “How can I help other people?” Gracie and her mother are regular attendees at the H.O.W. monthly “girls’ night out” dinners. With that simple question and an energized team of adults, the plan of H.O.P. was put into motion and now we are “hopping” in every direction!
It’s our dream within H.O.P. to foster the ideas of young people who, like Gracie, want to help others in their community. With this basic goal, we envision our “hoppers” nominating mothers, fathers and their peers who may need the community’s help and support. Then H.O.P. helps cultivate creative ways in which these people can be helped. We see conversations at the dinner table where families create an action plan to help another person or family in need. We also see these plans coming to schools where parents, teachers and administrators take part to make them bigger, better and capable of reaching more people!
It is H.O.P’s ultimate goal to reach the business community and become something even beyond what our hoppers imagined and more than any one person could create! Our goal may be big but we believe bringing our children together even if it’s just once a month, we will create that miracle one person may need!
Please join us this Saturday, January 15th at 9am at Fresno's IHOP to honor our first recipiant, Jennifer Hovda! Details are posted on our facebook page, "Helping One Woman - Fresno Chapter" or read our H.O.P. and H.O.W. January newsletters at www.helpingonewoman@posterous.com!
