Local Poet Wins Twitter award

Local Poetry/Writer won Shorty Award Monday night in New York City:

Leslie Moon the co-founder of One Stop Poetry won the Twitter Shorty Award for Art in New York City Monday night. Nine months ago, she had the idea to create a cyber community for poets in the blog community. She and her international team never expected their blog to take off like wildfire. Not only does she co-host a weekly blog for poets to share their work, she also hosts a weekly feature for emerging artists, musicians and writers (including youth).
Her team is in the process of forming regional contests for children in the foster care system. Children will write a poem that will be submitted to One Stop Poetry. The winners will receive a Kindle and their poetry will be published on-line. A primary goal at this juncture is to find forums to encourage the creative arts for youth and children.

Leslie is a Visalian who in her spare time writes poetry and children’s books. She also works with a team writing books for children with special needs.
