"OH MY GOSH! This is hanging on my wall!" Those were the 1st words I spoke when I was reviewing my daughter's senior picture proofs and came across this one. I went and compared it to my own senior picture taken at age 17 and in a frame on my wall. It was astonishing!
This wasn't preplanned... it just was one of life's ironies that makes you stop and think about God's incredible thoughts that went into our design.
On the left, is my daughter Deanna, age 17 then, age 28 now. A wife and mother, yet so much more. She's everything a mother could ask for in a daughter, a wife, a mother, a human being.
On the right is myself, age 17 then, age 50 now. I'd like to think I'm becoming more and more like my 'replica,' my daughter. She's taught me so much about life, about people, about God.
We are so very close. This photo reminds me of how important and priceless our relationship is, while also reminding me of the differences that are unique to us both and the value in respecting and loving those differences.
These were taken in 2000 and 1977, respectively. They were not taken at the same photography studio. Mine was taken at Capwell's and they went out of business decades ago.
Though we've changed since then, and the obvious age difference makes us look less like twins, I still feel awed every time I look at this picture.
