Soren at radiothon 2010

One determined survivor!

This is Soren he is 7 years old. At the age of 3, he was diagnosed with A.L.L. leukemia. This September it will be one year since he received chemotherapy. He is a great example of what to do when life hands you lemons. Not only did he make lemonade.. Throughout his treatment he was a very brave boy. He never complained about anything. He knew when his blood counts were low he had to stay home to protect himself, and stay healthy. He always made the best of any situation. Most importantly, he always felt the need to give back. He participated in Light the Night and help raise money for his team for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. He also begged us to take him to Children's hospital to participate in the radiothon for the last two years. He said, "Mommy I need to go help my hospital grow bigger, so they could help more kids get better." He has also helped sell Kid's Day newspapers for the last two years. This year the only way he could go sell newspapers was if he left to work with his dad at 4:30 AM, he patiently waited until 7:00 AM to begin selling papers. This past May he decided he wanted to shave his head for a national organization called St. Baldrick's that supports childhood cancer research. All of these have been his idea and his decision to want to give back. Soren is very sympathetic to others, anytime he hears someone is sick or not feeling well he says, "you should go to Children's Hospital they will help you feel better." He is an incredible kid, brother, son, and friend. I am so proud of his caring attitude and big heart. He makes it easy for us to have a positive outlook on his bright future. I am honored to nominate him.

Soren is one of the bravest little boys that I know! Even now his life's dream is to be a pediatric oncologist so that he can help kids with cancer, too!
