Luke is full of joy and has an incredible appetite for life. Despite the challenges of cerebral palsy, seizures, and significant speech delays, Luke wakes up each morning with an infectious smile from ear to ear.
Luke had complications at birth and spent the first 10 days of his life in NICU. Doctors told us that he would have medical and developmental challenges, and might not even be able to walk. With lots of encouragement from his big brother Isaiah, lots of great therapists and intervention, and a tenacious spirit, Luke took on the challenge. At 2, he was able to walk. It was at that time that he also was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and had to start taking medicine daily for seizures. He didn't let that get him down.
Although he still has significant speech delays and has limitations on the right side of his body, he can walk, run, climb, and enjoy life to the fullest. He loves playing basketball, and is actually a pretty incredible player. Luke's perfect day would be spent outside shooting basketball, riding bikes, and swinging all day.
Luke inspires us everyday. Despite his physical limitations, he practices and pushes his body to do things that amaze us all. Despite only having a few words in his vocabulary, he can make friends quicker and express love better than most. Luke has spent a lot of time in and out of doctors, the hospital, therapists, early intervention school, and special education preschool. He's incredible because he makes the most out of every situation, every appointment, every introduction.
We celebrate Luke's life everyday, and are so grateful to everyone who has supported us over the years. With Luke, life is more joyful, more geniune, and more incredible everyday.
