My husband and I purchased this home, our first home, in Feb. 2007. We immediately fell in love despite its 60+ year old age! What we saw instead was the place where we would bring home our first child, have Christmas' for years to come and a huge yard for our furry, four-legged children!
We loved the large grass area, beautiful grapevines and hand-me-down spa. We couldn't wait to clean up the yard, add some color and enjoy! Sadly we did not know what was in store for our charming old home. After an exploding water heater flooded our den and left us with cement sub-flooring, a leaky pipe created a giant ceiling hole in the master bath, a poorly built bay window almost collapsed with our doggy in it and a front door so warped we could not lock it or open/close it, our plans for our yard have were abandoned. While we were occupied with everything indoors we missed the overgrown grapevines pulling down the fence, the fact that the sprinklers did not work and that somewhere along the line the spa became no longer a spa, but a big tub of cold water!
We have since replaced the fence and removed the spa. The sprinklers still do not work and try as we might, we can not get those dang grapevines to go away! At this point the funds have dwindled and though we still love our first home, we would love a relaxing backyard to enjoy and remind us that our home is still in fact, charming! Thank you for considering our home for this backyard makeover!
