I adopted a beautiful little boy when he was 6 weeks old who was born addicted to cocaine. At 13 months old he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. At 18 months a genetic disorder called Fragile X Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Epilepsy and Autism. Since the very first breath my son took he has struggled to live in a world very foreign to him. 5 years ago I introduced him to a horse named Peppylou and his world changed. I saw amazing growth in my child. He began to walk, talk and try to form attachment to people in his life other than myself. I found the bond between my son and this horse amazing and decided to return to school to improve our life. I am currently working on my doctorate in psychology and working with children with special needs doing equine facilitated psychotherapy. I need to pay off student loans and get a place to keep my horses and do this type of work for years to come because of the impact it has on the children and adults I serve and will continue to serve.
