Officials from Yosemite National Park held a rededication ceremony on October 24th for the refurbished viewing area of Yosemite Valley called "Tunnel View Overlook."
Improvements to the parking and viewing areas will help avoid confilcts between visitors trying to take group photos with Yosemite Valley in the background and vehicles trying to enter the Valley through the Wawona Tunnel.
Acccording to Yosemite Superintendent Mike Tollefson the National Park Service has been remissin past years of maintaining some of Yosemite historic vistas. To restore the historic or iconic view, some trees that had grown unnaturally have been removed. According to Tollefson and other Yosemite officials, this also helps enhance the visiotr experience and improves public safety. As the iconic vista has been expanded, visitors can now getthat "once-in-a-lifetime" Yosemite photo without stepping into traffic and stepping on each other.
