I bought my house in March of 2008, and the Title company said my title was clear. I am now refinancing to save thousands of dollars on my loan, however, my new title company has said that I have a lien on my house for $368.08 from the City Of Merced. The City states that even though the lien is in someone elses name it follows the house. Sorry to say I actually pay my bills. The City of Merced is participating in dishonest ways of collecting money and it should be told to the general public. I will not and you should not pay these bills as it is not mine/yours. This is so ridiculous that the City Council and the Mayor would allow dishonest practices to go on like this. The City is too lazy to go after the people who don't pay their bills, so they go after people like me who do pay their bills.
