Booker Thaddeus Benji

Library homeless dog

There was whining on the outside of the library and I went out to see what was making the noise. It was a scroungy little dog who was missing it's owner. I fell in love with him anyway and wanted to know who the owner was. A week later I mentioned it to a library regular and later when I was working she had the owner paged over the public speakers. The owner answered the page. I came out of my work area and heard her negotiating with him for a price on the dog. I thought she was trying to buy the dog. My daugther was visiting at the time so I took her outside to see the dog and she fell in love with it also. On the way back inside we were met by the women and her son. Her son said they had bought the dog. I said I already knew. Then the mother said, "We bought him for you". I was so surprised, I asked her how much she paid. She said $20.00. I told her I would reimburse her. I also said I would take the dog to the vet and then home on my lunch break, but it wasn't for another hour. She was afraid one of the other teenagers would take it so she stayed with the dog until my lunch hour. When I came back to work I found the homeless teenager and told him I was going to be the dog's new owner. He said it was a good thing because he was leaving town to go back home the next day and the only one he could leave it with couldn't even feed himself. I have had dogs before, but this one has a heart of gold and I love coming home to be with him. I call him Booker because I got him from the library.
