It goes to show the greed and avarice in society today. These folks have little income & do sterling work in caring for unwanted animals yet the landlord gives them no notice just to make a fast buck. He should hang his head in shame.

Outrageous!!! How does this "Landlord" sleep at night knowing what he is doing? Hopefully LL will change mind. If not possible> fair amount of time to find animals homes and a relocation package should be offered to settle them.shame on U

This is awful! How can a landlord evict these people? They are obviously loving people who have cared for animals that no-one else wanted. Now they have to leave? Who will care for them? Who?

I hope this landlord has second thoughts before he ruins lives.

Oh my - how ironic that these kind people helped so many animals who were homeless, just to be deemed homeless themselves. Shame on the landlord.

CA is full of people with good incomes (even during this recession) and millions of animal lovers. Hope somebody reads this article and steps in to help. Is the landlord aware of this man's disability, he still wants to throw him in the street?

I hope this couple can get the help they need for themselves and their animals. Imagine living a giving, peaceful life and have this happen. Cynthia says they have only Jack's SS money to live on, and still they are giving!

Thank you for posting about the plight of the folks and critters at Critter Haven. Now let's help save them as they have saved countless others so selflessly for many years! Kindness should be repaid with kindness.

And of course, California is in such a financial mess that there probably is little the State or Locals will do. I hope some local religious congregations hear about this and try to help.

Here are these decent people doing good work and some money hungry thugs are trying to uproot them? Pretty darn cold if you ask me.... I bet they're attached to those animals, too. They need support, not hardships. Just heartless!!

These folks have over collected animals for years, they don't offer a service of any kind, and are not the innocents you think and have in fact demolished a once beautiful property, and home, Don't believe everything you hear from animal collectors

No one should be treated in this fashion. The landlord should be very ashamed of himself. I can't imagine how he can sleep at night.

It is absolutely inexcusable for a son to kick his dad to the curb in this way. I hope there is an attorney out there who will help this amazing couple who have dedicated their lives to caring for God's creatures.

Demolished a home? It's their home the landlord is demolishing. Home is where the heart is....or should it be, in the landlord's case, 'home is where the $$$$ are'? Shame on you!

I am curious if the son is in the process of finding these people a new home. I could not live with myself. It's truly sad because taking care of animals is one of the best therapies for Alzheimer's patients.

It sounds as though the son is treating his family like animals, hoping that someone else will adopt them and give them a good home. Thank God there are people like Jack and Cynthia out there with different attitudes.

What a shame that we live in a society where not only animals, but humans are disposable! I wish their son had a change of heart or at least tries to get them housing and care for Jack!

In response to John M: maybe they were for sale 'years ago', now they are homeless - does it make any difference? If they were a money maker - can you blame someone for supplementing their social security? Maybe a sale meant food?

Sad to read something like this can happen in ones extended family. I know that you will survive this horror after all look at the ones you've already gone through. Try to take VERY good care of yourselves & hope both your health issues improve.

If people drop their pets and unwanted animals on these good folks and they are able to take care of them and feed them until someone either adopts or buys, then good for them! I wish there were more people in the world like these two.

This story touched my heart.To the son:Please rethink your plan.The stress you are putting on your dad will only cause his health to go downhill. Let him live the life he loves. Even if you feel your intentions are good let him have his happiness.

I agree with CA Dreamin - Karma indeed.. One day you will be old and gray, maybe with a memory problem. I hope you never get turned out on the streets by your own offspring. Ashamed of yourself? I would be in your position!

This is so scary, I am in my 70's and can't imagine my son throwing me to the Streets (on one SS check, NO-ONE can make rent, let alone eat). I told my sons about this article and they say something must be done to help them stay living there.

They seem so loving, putting the critters' futures first, rather than their own. I wish there was something I could do to help - but I am but an elderly person, caring for my wife, who has dementia - and trying to make ends meet. It's hard very hard

I heard about this via the internet - and had to come on and ask, why is the landlord throwing them off the land? What kind of land is it and is the landlord planning on living there? I would hope with such an outcry, the landlord would rethink?

Just read about this on the internet - and can hardly believe it. Lord, what is the world coming to? All those gorgeous critters, and then the wonderful couple who have cared for them. And their SON is abandoning them? This breaks my heart.

A friend alerted me to this story and I wanted to say I'm really sorry your son is being so wicked to you and your critters. May he change his mind and be reminded that we all get old.

Digusted with the son...after being raised by his parents, still that is nothing new these days they cannot wait to inherit. Greed will be their downfall.

I'm very saddened and sorry to hear about the heart breaking plight these two elderly pensioners are in. California, if any need help, it's these 2! Folks across the country are following their wrenching story. Come together and offer them support???

Wonder if anything changed, how and where the critters are, and if this wicked son has evicted his parents - if so, where are they, it's too cold for elderly to be on streets - so I pray they are sheltered.

I am reading this with disbelief - I saw an interview with Cynthia and it seems the son asked them to do him a favor by living there and looking after the place. Now he's throwing them off the property? Abrupt isn't it? What changed with the son?

Back to see if there's an update. I've told so many about this story. No-one can believe that a son would do this. Is there a website to the Critter Haven? Maybe there will be update there? I see from Cynthias comment that Jack is worsening - oh no!

American , where is the compassion? Show me,. Is the son making sure his father and wife have some where else to go? If he makes money from leasing the land, is he going to use some of that money to help his Dad?
