Just before dusk yesterday, Jack stepped out the front door to go feed the Ducks, Emus, and Emu Chicks chicks their evening meal. He was expecting the mostly silent desolation that's befallen Critter Haven since the Landlord-Son ordered us to find other homes for all of our rescued Critters, and, of course, ordered us out as well.
Lo and Behold, a loud and plaintive call, mournful and demanding, echoed over the greensward!
Jack dashed back indoors and almost ran over me as I was responding to that melancholy wailing.
"He called me!" Jack yelled. "He wants to come home!"
"Go get him!" said I, and off went Jack on an epic Rescue Mission.
Soon there was a joyful reunion at the fenceline. As Jack opened the gate, His Nibs stepped daintily through, and hugs and nuzzlings were exuberantly exchanged.
Shortly afterward, the two reunited friends approached the woodworking shop, where I was waiting patiently on the porch.
I yelled "Welcome back, Sweetie!", and His Majesty broke into a trot, dashed up to me, and gave me a lovely and loving nudge. A few minutes later he was demanding Alfalfa treats and grinning like a lunatic...
Petey had returned!

We've decided that he can stay until one second before the Sheriff drags us off the property. After all, we're his humans, as he's made abundantly clear.

So glad to hear that Jack and Petey have been reunited for the time being. Petey is the best medicine Jack could have right now. I hope that this horrible situation is resolved soon.
