Hello!
My name is Julie Audell and I am an Air Force veteran. I served for 4 years in hopes to pursue a college education afterwards. As soon as I got out of the service in 2008, I became a full-time student.
The GI Bill paid me a monthly allowance which permitted me to pay for school, rent and bills. This way, I could focus on school without a job. There is a new GI Bill (there are a few types) that pays a monthly allowance and some tuition directly to the school for veterans who served after September 11th 2001. This is great for me because I just transferred from Fresno City College to Fresno State!
The problem is that thousands upon thousands of veterans have applied to this GI Bill resulting in an overload. I am looking a 12-16 weeks of no financial assistance whatsoever due to slow processing! I am gravely disappointed in the government for doing nothing about this. I am at risk of dropping out of school and losing my apartment. My whole way of life!
I live modestly, $525 rent $500 bills but when you have $0 coming in, it is very tough! I am reaching out to the community for help- a job or donations or any kind of help.
Thank you for your time,
Julie Audell

I wish there was something that I could do to help but unfortunately I am in the same situation. I submitted my paperwork in early June in the hopes that my benefits would start on time and am now having to figure out how I am going to pay my rent.
