Milan Institute Students Host BloodDrive

Clovis, CA - On Thursday, February 25, 2010, Milan Institute, a career school offering training in the healthcare, cosmetology and massage therapy fields, held a blood drive at its Clovis campus. The event was organized by the Medical Assisting students and headed by Sylvia Pogue, the Medical Assisting Instructor. Students managed to collect 49 pints from 57 donors during the brief 4-hour event, all of which was donated to the Central California Blood Center (CCBC). The mission of the CCBC is to supply blood and blood products to the 31 hospitals in Fresno, Tulare, Madera, Kings and Mariposa Counties.

The Milan Institute students and staff pulled together to host a successful blood drive. Donors registered and were screened inside the school and then made their donation in the CCBC Blood Mobile parked in front of the campus. T-shirts and refreshments were provided for the donors as a token of thanks from the school. “Milan Institute in Clovis hosts two blood drives per year, and we are happy to report that this was our most successful one yet,” said Sylvia Pogue. “We love our community and helping to save lives is the best way to show our school cares.” The campus received more salon and massage spa clients than usual for a Thursday due to the event.
