WHAT:
The Milan Institute Clovis campus will hold a fundraising event entitled “Girls Night Out” which entails donating all proceeds from event tickets to the Marjaree Mason Center (MMC). Tickets are $10 per person in advance and $15 per person at the door. The tickets entitles the guest to receive hair styling, nail polish changes, makeup application and chair massages during the event for free based on availability. All services are performed by students under instructor supervision.
The Girls Night Out fundraiser will also include a live DJ, refreshments, raffle and fashion show. Raffle prizes include gift certificates donated by local restaurants and businesses. Local vendors will also host booths at the event.
For nearly 30 years, the MMC has offered shelter and supportive services to victims of domestic violence in Fresno County. Currently, the center operates the county’s only domestic violence shelters. The MMC works in partnership with CUT IT OUT, a program of the Salons Against Domestic Abuse Fund dedicated to mobilizing salon professionals and others to fight the epidemic of domestic abuse in communities across the United States. Milan Institute students will participate in a free educational workshop taught by CUT IT OUT to help them recognize warning signs and safely refer clients to local resources.
