Today (Tuesday afternoon, Jun 8) everyone was talking about the huge plume of smoke just southeast of the campus of Fresno Pacific University. Many had heard the sirens, but the sight was what really caught everyone's attention. The fire, which must have started around 3:30 pm, appeared to be coming from an open field near Peach, between Butler and Church. Traffic was also being diverted in the area, causing some congestion around the university and Butler Church. By 4:30, the fire appeared to be under control and the sky was clearning.

Today my neighbors feared for our lives once again. We and our neighbors braved together to help save our homes and each other. The fires are just show the destruction of what we as a community continue to have to deal with on a yearly basis.

This is the second large fire we had on that empty field. My son who wants to be a firefighter was able to get practice by hosing a neighbors fence. Thank you to all you firefighters! God bless you all for your hard work.
