My husband and I tried for over three years to have a child, with no success. I had begun to lose hope when I received a message in my heart saying I would have a little girl and it would happen before the year's end. That is exactly what happened. On December 23, 2004 Ashley joined our family. From the day she entered this would she has been a true gift from God.
Ashley loves swimming, playing sports, dancing, drawing, reading. I often find her dancing in room with her younger brother, Hunter. They are the best of friends. She will help and encourage him any chance she gets. For example, he is currently in the process of potty training and when he had a successful trip to the the restroom she was the first to give him a hug and kiss and tell him, "Good job, Hunter. Now your're a big boy!"
She spent the past year in preschool and the teachers said what they would miss most is how she always stepped up to help the other kids.
Her patience and care for helping others has also shown itself in other ways. I have lost count of the times I have seen tears in her eyes over a "sad" song or an emotional part of a movie. It makes my heart smile to see how much a five year old cares about others.
But, believe me, she isn't all tears and emotions. She loves to have fun. One of our favorite things to do together is sing and dance. We will turn on a Disney CD and spend hours pretending we are on stage dancing, singing and mostly laughing.
I don't expect you to adore her the way I do, I just thank you for allowing me to talk about this little girl who is a blessing in all the lives she touches, expecially mine.
