Shaver Lake Drowning- bystanders try hard to resuscitate teen boy.

Shaver Lake drowning victim

On Saturday July 24, a young boy drowned at Shaver Lake. We were all enjoying ourselves when we heard someone yelling for help. A few people in the boats nearby were told to help look in the water near their boats to see if they could see him. Someone eventually pulled him out of the water and a bystander immediately began administering CPR. The sherrifs showed up a bit later on a boat and continued CPR. They then put the teen on the boat and continued CPR (see video). It was a very sad day.

I am proud of my son, Kyle Fleming, for doing all that he could to try and save the drowning victim. Kyle swam the 80 yards across the cove and began search diving. Kyle and another male, pulled the victim from 15 feet of water and began CPR.

I am so saddened to hear what happened to Robert and I would like to offer my condolences to your family. I was his teacher and he was such a wonderful, happy, and kind young man. I still have his artwork on my classroom walls. May he rest in peace.
