While picking up recyclables in the fig garden loop area on the 3500 block of West Escalon an alert City of Fresno Solid Waste Driver made a quick decision to dump his load that had caught on fire in a safe place to save his truck and other property. It took almost 40 minutes for 2 fire engines to fully put out the fire. Community Sanitation cleaned up the mess once it was out. The only property damaged was a Gray container that melted. We urge our customers to call the City of Fresno Recycle hotline at 621-1111 for any questions on Recycling. Please place cold fireplace & barbeque ashes and coals in the gray container bagged to retard the ashes blowing.
